What does this quote from the article mean to you?

"Moreover, racism in itself implies that our skin color defines who we are, however a person's skin color does not accurately represent their intelligence, wealth, or their morals."

  1. To me the quote from the article is saying that the color of skin does not determine how smart one is ,how much money they have or make , and what someone standard/belief is. This quote tells us that racism is an illusion, that we are all more then appearance and statistics. The color of skin can not explain what someone personality consist of.

  2. This quote means to me that we're defined by the color of our skin which shouldn't be the case, black people are made out to be known as poor on wealth fare most to do a crime and sell drugs which is not true white people seek drugs white people get locked up too its just easier for them to get off its more white people on wealth fare as stated in the article, I feel we shouldn't be judged on our skin color at all bcause there are wealthy black people and black people which are not on wealth fare or selling drugs like my father he's a black male has a job no welfare pays child support and do not smoke or drink or sell drugs and connected to stop and frisk they stop the majority of blacks and Hispanics and that's probably another reason why there are more blacks and Hispanics in jail then any other race!

  4. In my eyes the quote "Moreover, racism in itself implies that our skin color defines who we are, however a person's skin color does not accurately represent their intelligence, wealth, or their morals" said in the article "Racism In America: Racism Is A Disease That Needs To Be Cured" means that using a race to define someone's characteristics is incorrect. Black and white are nothing but colors, but it is the way society carries itself that gives these colors so much power. The colors can not decide weather or not your intelligent, wealthy or have high morals because we are all different colors and we have all grew in different ways which has reflected on our Intelligence, wealth and morals.

  5. To me this quote means your race does not determine who you are , your morals your wealth or your intelligence. Society bases race off of the way you look or what skin you are .

  6. The quote means to me that, it doesn't matter what skin color you car because , your skin doesn't determine your income or intelligence. We control our income and what we want to do , so a persons color of skin does not automatically make them something. Not all black people steal and not all Asian people are highly intelligent. Who you are and who you become are based off of your choices, skin color has nothing to do with it.

  7. Khalil Lightbourne- the quote to me means that all though some people may have a mentality that the color of your skin determines who you are and what you do that is not true because we are all human and capable of doing the same things. the color of your skin has nothing to do with how smart you are or what you will do in life

  8. The quote means that now a days, the way you look such as your skin color, that's how people judge you by the way the color of your skin. Our skin colors can not decide weather your intelligent, wealthy or have high morals or not. We are all different colors and also each and one of us as grew in our different ways. This has demonstrate on our Intelligence, wealth and morals.

  9. Personally I feel this quote means , no matter what race you are you shouldn't be judged by anyone , because were all gods creations. Skin has nothing to do with the money you make , your apperence, how you talk etc .. Everyone is different and different is good :) - Nia Williamson

  10. What this quote means is that it don't matter What color u are u are great in your own way no matter what anybody says

  11. This quote means that every race is judged by the color of their skin and the history of what your race did in the past. Because of what race you are you're automatically judged by it and society is judgemental. You're great in your own way and just because you're a certain type of race doesn't mean that you should be judged.

  12. In my opinion i think that this quote means that racism can define a individual as who they are and what they do. I dont think that a persons skin color can accurately define an individual wether they are wealthy and intelligent just by looking at them. It takes more than just that to define a person.

  13. People Think That If Your A Certain Race Of Color, You Are Defined As Something . For Example If I'm Black Doesnt Mean I Live In The Projects . Or If I'm A Lightskin Girl , I Take Long To Text Back Lol . A Persons Color Doesnt Represent Who They Are & What They Are Capable Of .#DollarTeam

  15. I think this quote means that most people are judged on their skin color but it does not define who we are , how smart we are or what we believe in because we are all different regardless of our skin color.

  16. I Render this quote means that people always decided who you are because of your skin color . but at he end of the day it doesn't mean that just because your African American don't mean that you cant be wealthy , or you can have a 4.0 or even you never been to jail . all that is , is just stereotypes . - Na'Daije Gresham

  17. I think the quote means that people live up to the stereotype of their race. Society can't advance if people still stick with the old ideas of race

  18. We live in a community where society bases everyone off of color ,like for example cause someones white they must be rich nd cause we black we must have a small job pay,or cause someones white they must get a more better education then a black person so i think this quote is trying to say our skin color doesnt make us who we are jus cause sterotypes judge us doesnt make us intelligence, wealthy, and make us have morals .

  19. I think this quote means that people are judged more on the color of there skin. Wealth, intelligence or morals have nothing to do with the skin color that they are. Skin color doesn't determine how smart you are, it doesn't determine how much money you have nor does it determine what your personality is like. Every race is different and unique in there own way.

  20. I think this quote means that most people are judged on their skin color but it does not define who we are or where ur originated from

  21. this quote to me means that our skin color is the first thing people see, they automatically separate you from others based just on that. however it doesn't define who we are, what we do, or where we came from.

  22. What this quote is trying to tell us is that you can judge what the person skin color is but you CANT judge a person if he is smart or if he is rich or poor. This would be call be bais.

  23. This quote means to me that you judge somebody by the color of their skin, but the color has nothing to do with if he/she is smart or not. people always think that Asian people are the smartest and blacks and Hispanics are the not so smart people.

  24. @ the rate people are going on about this it is messing up the polices job and plus the community's all they would need is for some one to get judged by any one that would bring a whole big argument to the stand all they would need is one racists thing to talk about to make a big problem about it no one would want to get judged on their skin color or the way they are dressed.

  25. people are always judging us by the color of our skin, when we greet others the first thing they see is the color of your skin and all the stereotypes come out.
